Student Voice at Simon Balle School

How Student Voice works from The Student Voice team on Vimeo.

This is the homepage for Student Voice here at Simon Balle School. It is the place to find out what is being proposed, debated and decided by students in the school.

We aim to provide opportunities for all students to develop skills which will enable them to actively engage in the local and global communities, to do this we will …

  • Provide realistic and supportive contexts for students to be able to take their ideas forward
  • Create opportunities so that students can work with a braod range of people, including those older and younger than themselves, both within school and the local community
  • Develop situations whereby students can act as ambassadors for the school
  • Provide realistic responsibilities which have clearly defined outcomes
  • Welcome students as a driver for improving learning
  • Enable students to reflect upon their own learning, their skills as an individual, a member of the team and within their leadership role

Societies meetings

The student voice system is well on it’s way to being fully up and running, one of the last big steps in the process is getting societies set up.

The meeting dates will be put on the calendar which is available on the school website: http://sbsstudentvoice.wordpress.com/student-voice-calendar/ where you can also find out meeting dates for the parliament.
Currently we have both the Wellbeing Society and the Environment Society meeting on Monday 14th @1:30 in E6 and the Lecture Theatre respectively.

First Student Parliament Meeting – 19/10/11

We had our first Parliament meeting on Wednesday 19th October.

To see our minutes go to the page for the Student Parliament above and click on the link!

One of the most important issues discussed were the proposals for Societies. We are going to test out our new on-line systems to have discussions about these societies, give them names and get some recruits involved, watch this space for more information as soon as it happens.

Many thanks to all who attended, the Student Representatives, SSLT and Mrs Saunders and Mrs Ellis. It was really good to hear everyone opinions and get the systems started up.
